The 2026 FIFA World Cup is finally getting started, and Group E will see a first-time matchup between Ivory Coast and Ecuador at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Ecuador has reached the World Cup before, making the country’s first appearance in 2002 and then returning in 2006, 2014, and 2022. This time around, La Tri had an outstanding performance in South American qualifying, only finishing behind Argentina in the standings.
Ivory Coast will return to the global stage for the fourth time ever, hoping to go further than in previous years. The African giants were unable to surpass the group stage in 2006, 2010 and 2014, but ended a 12-year absence by winning CAF group F during qualifying in October.
