Chelsea will reacquaint themselves with their old Club World Cup foes as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday night at Parc Des Princes in Paris.
The Blues stunned the European champions PSG 3-0 in July to claim the world champion crown.
And there was animosity aplenty after that match as a scuffle broke out at full time, during which Luis Enrique struck Joao Pedro, and the two sides have a fresh opportunity to settle their differences over two legs this month in what will surely be the toughest test of Liam Rosenior’s managerial tenure so far.
Chelsea eased through the league phase despite dropping points to Bayern Munich, Qarabag and Atalanta, securing automatic progression while PSG were made to contest a play-off round following a slow start to the competition.
They made hard work of Monaco there, withstanding a nervy four-goal second leg to ensure their progression.
