Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has been announced as host for season seven of Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) — making it his sixth consecutive year anchoring the reality TV show.
BBNaija took to social media to reveal that the media personality will be reprising his role in its 2022 edition.
“The looks, the wit, the fashion and the elegance. The multitalented @Ebuka is bringing it all for #BBNaija season 7. Una dey ready?” it wrote.
Ebuka, who participated in BBNaija’s debut season in 2006, has been hosting the show since 2017.
This year’s winner of the reality show will go home with a grand prize of 100 million — the highest ever since the inception of BBNaija.
The TV show will begin its launch for two days — the 23rd and 24th of July — during which the introduction of Housemates would be conducted.
The program has been set to premiere on DStv channels 151, 153, 154, and 198, and GOtv channels 2, 6, and 29 by 7:00 pm on both days. Showmax will also be a platform for fams across Africa to stream the show.
During a media briefing with the Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Dr Busola Tejumola, it was discussed that this year’s housemates will undergo a psychological evaluation before going into the house.
It was also revealed that the winner of this year’s show would be walking away with a 100m Naira grand prize; a cash prize of N50m and N50m worth of prizes from the sponsors.
Apart from the housemates, 30 fans would also stand a chance to win N1m each in the ‘Fave Lock-In’ promo exclusive to DStv and GOtv customers.
This year’s season of BBNaija will run for 72 days and end on October 2, 2022.
It is understood that over 40,000 people auditioned to be part of the reality show.
