The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards saw a major shakeup in the world of music as Burna Boy lost the 2 category of he was nominated for while Tems won her first-ever Grammy with her first nomination.
The self-acclaimed African Giant Burna boy lost to South Africa’s Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode who defeated Burna Boy’s Last Last to claim the award for the Best Global Music performance.
Also, Burna Boy’s album “Love Damini” also lost the best Global Music Album award to Masa Tukumi who took home the Best Global Music Album with ‘Sakura.’
However, Tems, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, won the award for the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her feature on Future’s ‘Wait For U’ ft. Drake.

Tems vocals was sampled on the single that also features Canadian megastar rapper Drake.
Tems’ win comes days after receiving a nomination for her role in ‘Lift Me Up’, a soundtrack off Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, in the ‘Best Original Song’ category of the 2023 Academy Awards held on January 24, 2023.
