On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate our achievements, acknowledge our struggles, and recommit ourselves to building a future where every woman and girl can live freely, safely, and boldly.
This day is more than just a date on the calendar. It is a moment to celebrate ourselves as women, mothers, wives, professionals, and leaders. Today, we honour women who build careers while nurturing homes, women who are fearless in the pursuit of their dreams, and women who continue to inspire strength and resilience in the face of challenges.
We celebrate the quiet strength of women who navigate difficult paths with courage and determination. We recognize the single mother who works tirelessly to provide a meaningful life for her child. We honour the power of a woman’s intuition, the wisdom gained through her experiences, and the warmth reflected in her empathy.
As we celebrate today, let us do so with intention. Let us uplift the women in our lives with genuine support, active listening, and unwavering allyship. Let us continue to defend the rights of every woman and create spaces where women feel safe, seen, and valued.
International Women’s Day reminds us that the world comes together each year to honour the achievements, strength, and resilience of women. It is a global celebration of progress, a call for equality, and a tribute to women who have shaped families, communities, and nations.
This day is also about recognizing everyday heroes—the mothers, teachers, healthcare workers, caregivers, and leaders who quietly and consistently make a difference in society.
The strength of a woman is not only found in grand achievements but also in the small daily acts of kindness, perseverance, passion, and leadership that often go unnoticed.
It is encouraging to note that our journey toward gender equality has recorded meaningful progress. More women today are accessing education, leading businesses, shaping policies, and excelling in fields that were once closed to them. Increasingly, women are also participating in politics, as reflected in the ongoing advocacy for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill currently proposed at the National Assembly.
However, the work is far from over.
I encourage women to remain active, bold, and limitless, even in the face of societal biases and limited access to opportunities. Together, we must continue to break barriers and create pathways for the generations of women who will come after us.
Today, and every day, I celebrate the strength, vulnerability, intelligence, creativity, and relentless pursuit of a better future that defines women everywhere.
