An exciting first leg saw Bayern Munich take a 3-2 lead into the second leg of their Women’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie with Manchester United. FC Hollywood now hold the advantage in this second leg tie, with the Red Devils facing the prospect of having to get a positive result in Germany.
After the 3-2 first leg win in Manchester, both teams returned to action domestically at the weekend with mixed results. Bayern are now 13 points clear of Wolfsburg at the top of the women’s Bundesliga in Germany, while Manchester United lie third in the WSL table in England.
Bayern have now won 13 games in succession in all competitions, scoring 45 goals in those games. Recent results inclide two big away wins 3-0 at Koln and then 5-0 at SGS Essen, followed by the 3-2 win at Manchester United last week and at the weekend Bayern were 2-0 winners at home to Nurnberg.
For Mancheser United, it has ntot been the best run of results since losing the Women’s League Cup Final 2-0 to Chelsea. A 0-0 draw at West Ham followed and then United picked up a 2-1 home win over Everton. However, they were then beaten 3-2 by Bayern last week and at the weekend went down to a 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City.
