Liverpool host Newcastle at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday looking to reclaim their footing in the race for Champions League qualification.
The Reds lost ground in the top-five battle last weekend with a stoppage-time defeat by Bournemouth, as Manchester United and Chelsea both took advantage which leaves Arne Slot’s side without a Premier League win since the turn of the year, after four draws and one loss.
They have, however, picked up wins in other competitions, sweeping past Barnsley in the FA Cup and beating Marseille 3-0 in the Champions League.
Liverpool then secured third place in the Champions League table with a 6-0 drubbing of Qarabag at Anfield in midweek, which confirmed their automatic progression into the knockout stages.
Newcastle, meanwhile, reached the play-off round of Europe’s premier competition after they held holders Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
