Unity Cup action takes centre stage for the second successive year as Nigeria face Zimbabwe in the first semi-final at The Valley in south-east London this evening.
The international football tournament returned 12 months ago after an absence that lasted over two decades, with the Super Eagles overcoming Jamaica on penalties to successfully defend their title.
Today’s showdown is a rematch from the CAF World Cup qualification campaign where failure to beat Zimbabwe across two matches ultimately cost Nigeria the chance of topping Group C and avoiding the play-offs where they were beaten by DR Congo last November, thus missing out on this summer’s showpiece in North America.
