Barcelona and Real Madrid renew rivalry in the El Clasico Spanish Super Cup final at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.
The four-team competition held in Saudi Arabia is headlined by El Clasico for the fourth year in a row after both teams won their respective semi-finals, Barca demolishing Athletic Club 5-0 before Real Madrid outlasted rivals Atletico 2-1 in a fiery derby clash.
Now they meet again for the first time in 2026 and second time this season, following Los Blancos’ 2-1 home victory in LaLiga back in October in which Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe netted either side of a Fermin Lopez leveller at the Bernabeu.
As so often in this famous and feisty rivalry, it was a game littered with incidents and controversy, with Pedri and Andriy Lunin – who was on the Madrid bench – both sent off during furious scenes late on.
Defending champions Barcelona currently lead Real Madrid by four points at the LaLiga summit having won their last nine matches across all competitions under Hansi Flick, while opposite number Xabi Alonso had been under real pressure just months into the job before a recent run of five successive victories.
