Liverpool host Barnsley at the Anfield Stadium as the FA Cup third round concludes tonight.
The Reds have been steadily improving in recent weeks thanks to a tactical rearrangement from Arne Slot, and battled to an impressive 0-0 draw with Premier League leaders Arsenal on Thursday.
They head into FA Cup action, though, with the bar set low, after they failed to score and were knocked out by Plymouth in the fourth round last season.
It is a relatively sympathetic opening tie this time around, though. Barnsley have endured a tough campaign so far and sit 17th of 24 in League One with just eight wins this season.
They reached this stage of the competition by edging out National League side York 3-2, before producing a similarly nervy 1-0 defeat of Peterborough.
Now winless in four, Conor Hourihane’s men will be dreaming of pulling off another cupset at Anfield, as they did in 2007-08.
